Five nonprofits in Southeast Pennsylvania received $17,500 that supported programs that help improve communities in the state in Dauphin, Lehigh, Montgomery, and Northampton counties.

Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue

Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue received a $2,500 from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation will be used to offset the costs of operations and managing the organization as the nonprofit is ran by volunteers and relies on donations and grants. GPSAR provides search, rescue, and recovery services to the community of Greater Philadelphia region. The nonprofit also assists law enforcement in evidence searches and cold cases. In addition, they provide educational outreach for children, families, and groups and attend community events like National Night Out.

Gujarati Samaj of Lehigh Valley

Gujarati Samaj of Lehigh Valley received a $5,000 from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation will be used for the Diwali celebration and to promote and assist in the traditions and heritage of Gujarati people in Lehigh Valley. The foundation is part of the Asian American Retailers Association, also known as AARA, and is a community for those in Pennsylvania from india to uphold their culture and traditions.

Lehigh Valley K9s

Lehigh Valley K9s received a $1,000 sponsorship donation for their Designer Bag Bingo Event held on Nov. 10, 2023, in Quakertown. The funds raised at this event help provide resources and funding for local law enforcement K0 units so they can carry out their assigned duties and protect the communities.

Pope John Paul II High School

Pope John Paul II High School received a $5,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving.

Pope John Paul II High School received a $5,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation will be used to create a sensory-friendly calming room, to be named the Zen Den, in the Panthers' Learning Center, the hub of academic support at the school.

The Zen Den will be a resource for students benefiting from a short break from the busyness of the day, particularly those with sensory needs, on the Autism spectrum, and anxiety. This space will strengthen the school's commitment to inclusivity and help them better serve students with learning differences.

YWCA Greater Harrisburg

The YWCA of Greater Harrisburg received a $1,500 donation as a sponsor for the annual Pursuit of Justice Purse Auction that raises money for the YWCA's Legal Center, which provides free civil legal representation for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and immigration status. The event will be held on Nov. 30, 2023, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the West Shore Country Club in Camp Hill.
